windsheild wiper @ high speeds

I was driving back home from work at around 100-105mph and i tried to turn on my windshield wiper and they got bent further back they were supposed to be i guess due to the wind pressure. Is this normal?

100+ mph and windshield wipers do not mix. Either A - it's raining or B - dirty windshield. In case of A. Foolish. Equation on force is F=mv^2. So at 100 mph you will hit another object with 4 times the force of 50mph. In case of B - slow down, fix the problem, speed up. Use hands on wheel at these speeds.

Dont think he was looking for driving advice guys...

Most windshield wiper shafts are splined. I have never looked at the ones on my Z but I would imagine that you could remove them and turn the wipers a notch or two to see if that would realign your bent wipers. The only thing I would be careful of is to make sure that they arent bent enough to cause interference between the two arms in the middle of the windshield.

Drive safe! Good Luck!!

Splined and Tapered

The wipers are splined with a tapered shaft. It may take a small finger puller to get them off. The tighter the bolt was pulled down the tighter they will be wedged on the shaft. You can remove the plactic cover at the base of the wiper by pulling it off. Then you can adjust them back one or two splines till they turn off against there rubber bummper stops. Later>>>>>>>>

Sounds like you need to upgrade to one of those aerodynamic, high performance "mono" wipers like the ricers use
Seriously though, I've never thought of hitting the wipers at 100+ so I don't know.

The original F-body Wipers were designed for 120 mph. There was a magazine produced back in 1993 by Road&Track that went through the development of the 4th gen f-body. One of the paragraphs was about the development of the wipers. However, those were the old wipers. My car still has them, they look like giant insect arms. I may be wrong but I believe the newer cars have much smaller/thinner wiper arms. This may be the problem

Good luck

Dustin

You also have to realize you don't have a ZR1. The wipers were totally redesigned to withstand those speeds and higher.
