WOOHOO A CLUNK

WOOHOO A CLUNK
I only got 3500mi on my car and it has been making this *clunk* sound whenever I apply the gas ever so over-gently. For about the last 2000mi I thought it was just some things I had in my trunk moving around, but then when I moved them out I realized its not. Why the hell is my new car clunking around like an old Pinto, I demand satisfation!

Welcome to the Wonderful World of the 7.5" POS rear end !!
It's typical, I'm afraid - I don't know how they set these things up, but they all seem to have lots of backlash & make clunks, groans, & other assorted noises.
My dealer was never able to diagnose my clunk - they replaced the driveshaft w/ no affect, and swore that they looked all over it from stem to stern & found no brake problems or bad mounts - tranny or lower control arm.
So, I have learned to live w/ it.
If money is no object, a Ford 9" would certainly solve that problem & give you the ability to do rapid gear changes to boot !
However, if you are like me, the best you can do is keep up w/ the fluid changes & buy an extended warranty so that down the road if it goes Kaboom ! you only have to pay the $ 50.00 deductible.
Hopefully your new found ability to accelerate from 0 - 60 @ a rapid clip will help alleviate some of the aggravation caused by this noise.
Good Luck !!

There is always a bit of slack in the drive shaft......doesn't matter if it's a stick or auto. When the motor is pulling the car.....or slowing it down due to gearing. If you are rolling and then tap the gas 'ever so lightly' the shaft is flipping sides it is snug on......your car is rolling slow (motor is slowing car down)then you tap the gas...and clunk...drive shaft begins to push the other way(motor wants to move your car, rather than gearing slow your car down)
I'd bet that's what you are talking about....but I have heard some say that it can get progressively worse. Mine has it as well.....but I was told that it's not a concern for now...if ever.
