Talking Wow! I love this thing!

Well, I finally sold my '95 Formula. Lucky for me, I also found a 2001 SS w/ 12000 miles for $22,888 !!
I was sold as soon as I saw it. It feels like it's 100 HP stronger than my bird, and I've ran neck and neck with 98-99 LS1's (A4)with my old car. Is there really that much of a power difference from 98 to 2001? Or maybe this thing's a freak. I'll have to go to the track and find out.

Congrats on the new car!!!

when i was looking for my car a while back i test drove a 2001 ss just for the hell of it (it was out of the price range) and that car just seemed sooooo much faster than my trans am. I know that the ls6 intake and i think that they put the 6.0L truck cam in the 2001-2002 cars will help. anyways nice choice and enjoy the power

I know 98s run about 280 rwhp stock, the newer stuff seems to run close to 300 rwhp stock... that's almost 20 rwhp. Probably 15 rwhp on average.
What did you have done to your 95 to keep up with 98s? That just doesn't happen stock for stock unless you have a really crappy LS1 operator.
I see you got an SS, you could have some extra power there if you got the top of the line (optional) exhaust available. The stock mufflers on these cars are serious performance corks. Get rid of the muffler and you free up some good hp. SSs could be had with a better than stock muffler on a cat-back called "dual-dual"... If you know all this, ignore my rambling. The optional muffler is much better than stock, but not as good as some aftermarkets.
Anyways, glad you like your car! I have had 3 and just can't get enough of driving them, talking about them, and wrenching on them.
Good luck
Dave

Yep, It has the extra SLP exhaust option, kinda louder than other ls1's i've heard.
My 95 had every free mod you could do, and cold air, cutout, electric water pump, MAC short tubes, and a little bit of LT1 edit tuning. (my old signature was out of date a bit)
