It is the best bang for the buck MOD. About $100 for roughly 10HP. These cars do not have a good air intake. This just helps the car breathe.

The stock air box poses too much of a restriction especially the baffles. The lid eliminates the baffles and is designed to flow more air into your MAF. You'll definitely want to switch to a lid if you haven't done so already.

if you are pre 2001 then you should do it..

I am still wondering about the benefits to a 2001-2002.. Only because of our intakes.. If we are already flowing the intake better than we are the exhaust one 2001-2002 exhaust may be a better start.. not sure yet.. but I am looking into it.. From what I have seen, I think I am looking at exhaust first...

Dyno will tell...

Pre 2001??? Dude what are you talking about! ANY LS1 owner needes one.. I have a 2001 Z and oh man could I feel the dif when I got my lid and K&N.. I'm sure the K&N realy isn't doing that much as I've run it with the stock air filter and it feels the same.. but WOW.. for the used price of $75 for both lid and K&N the power gain is sick!

I can't believe GM put suck of POS intake on this car! Any mod you do and can feel the power in the seet of your pants is a great mod!

You'll never do a mod this cheep again that gives anywhere this much power. bottom line.. this upgrade is a MUST

Bart

btw.. with ONLY a lid I dynod 303 rwhp and 304 rwtwq, I ran a 13.1 in the 1/4 with a 2.01 60' time

The intake on yours is better (i.e. LS6 intake), however your stock lid will still be your restricting factor.

Ok.. I understand that my intake my be restricted by my lid.. but then comes to mind the rest of the issues:
Stock exhaust restrictions?
Under the lid restrictions?(this is the part where they show people cutting up the plastic)
MAF restriction?(will the stock unit flow enough?)

Again.. I understand many things have been done and proven to everyone.. but for me, I personally need to prove it to myself. Maybe I am being hard headed but personally I dont like to just jump on bandwagon.. As for SOTP, that is always subjective and thats why I own a G-Tech to passify me till I get to the track.

Thanks for your feedback though..

I hear ya on the point of "not wanting to jump on the band wagon" before investigating/proving for yourself, but after I went to the track 3 weeks ago and ran a $h!tty 14.1, I'm looking for anything to get me into the 13's. This week, I just bought a new lid, and also a K&N (although I'm not sure if they're actually as good as everyone says, but it was on sale!! ) --- so far, all I can say is that I can definitely "hear" a difference (the car is a little louder/throatier sounding, especially at higher revs), and I think it feels a little quicker too, but I'm not sure if it's a psychological thing or not?! Sometimes if you "think" it's faster, suddenly that means it "is" faster! Next Friday I'm going back to the track, and I'm going to prove the difference that the new lid and filter made (I may even bring the stock parts and swap them at the track --- that way I'll know for sure, just incase track prep varies).
