To hit 10's For $5,000 or under, there is no way without a huge hit of spray!!!! good luck with relability at that point without a forged rebuild.

Here's how I'd do it. Take my f-body and set it to the side. Then I'd buy a newer model (used) 600 (preferably an R6) sportbike and strap it. Boom. 10s with an LT1 f-body... off to the side.

Of course I already have this, so I already succeeded!

In his 3rd post he says spray is NOT in the deal??

You cant do it in an F body....no, 454 CHevy powered coupe Mustang, maybe.

F body is too heavy.

ALL new parts, NOT...the 5 grand will disappear with a quickness.

There was an article in GMHTP awhile back where someone did a budget build on his LT1 and was hitting 10s. Alot of his nitrous system was custom made, he even made his own jets I remember reading. I think he is a member on here, just can't remember his username.

There is no way you can get to this goal with reliability. The little extra crap that your going to have to buy is going to eat you alive.

@ the people making up this list that have no clue what it takes to get a heads/cam car to go 10's...

$5k to go 10's reliably with new parts

A heads/cam set alone that's worth a damn is going to run you $2k

A rear end? $2k

A transmission? $1700

A converter/cooler combo that's not the usual POS that people buy? $1k

Valvetrain? $500-700

Wheel/Tire combo? $1k

Leaving out TONS of stuff....

Get realistic people.

Do we have to be NHRA legal?

Because I can do a LOT of weight reduction with a sawzall.

thats what it would come down to.

I think it can be done with an LS1, not an LT1.

If it was as easy as some of you think it is... why are there so few 10 second heads/cam LT1's running around on this forum?

Okay, here's what I'd do.

Starting with a 1995 Z28 hardtop and $5000, I would:
1. Sell the Z28 for $4000.
2. Buy a trashed late 80's 5.0 for $350.
3. Gut it.
4. Buy something like this
5. Junkyard 9".
6. Get a used set of Welds with slicks and skinnies.
7. Homemade turbo + exhaust.

There ought to be plenty of money left over for the little details.

Because every internet warrior can build a car better than the people who have actuallly done it. I would have thought that you would have learned about this by now.
