**New Cam!!!**

Well i am finally putting a decent cam in my 383. Its tpis's zzx cam. It is a 239/239 595/595 112 LSA. Ive got AFR's/Tpis Heads, lt4 manifold, 52mm tb, the 383 is 10.5:1 comp. Car has FLP long tubes with no cats. Borla exhaust, 12bolt with 4:10's , all spohn suspension. Anyone know what this setup is good for? 1/4? rwhp? thanks for reading guys.

With good traction, good driving (means alot if you have a manual), and a kick *** tune. I can see the car running mid 11's.

Hey Deen, I'm installing a 12 bolt in my 97 this weekend. It has 373 gears & my 10 bolt has 4:10s, which I love with my 6 spd. I too can drive a manual and can hang with an automatic, have been for years. But I'm curious as to trap speeds with the 373s vs 410s. Right now on street tires BFG KDs about 25" tall I think, I'm ready to shift right at the 1/4 mile mark. Curious if 373s will give me a higher mph, obviously with the same tire I will have more 4th gear left but I love how the 410s take advantage of my rwhp. Thanks.

Looks pretty good. I have a set up not that far off from where you're at. So, I hope I can put similar numbers. Or at least the equivalent up here at 5800' altitude. Good luck, and please let us know how you do.

I dunno about that cam. What do your head flow numbers look like? If you had an LS1 that cam might be fine, but LT1's like to have more duration on the exhaust to make up for the bad exhaust flow.

the heads flow in the high 270's at .600. There is a guy running this cam in a third gen, with a 383 also, with 373's, and he is running 11.23@121

Deenasty,
That setup sounds sick. I remember that post you had with the soundclip. Hope it turns out good. How r u beating smog with it though and how r u making it living out in expensive *** san fran, and still able to mod. SoCal is killin my wallet right about now.

The TPIS ZZX isn't a new cam, its been around for a while, just that the LT1 guys don't use it alot, most people on here see TPIS cams as being more for the L98s. It should be more than sufficient to run 11s in your setup. A single pattern cam is supposed to make more torque than the regular dual pattern cams. I made 327rwhp/352rwtq with the TPIS ZZ409 (226/226) with stock heads and a few boltons and was running 12.6x at 111mph

By "new cam" i didnt mean it was new on the market, i meant that I was getting a new cam, just a misunderstanding. Thanks guys, i hope it makes good power!
