1.6 pro magnum rockers
Car:95 trans am LT1
Valvetrain components: comp cam 224/236 .605/.622 on a 114, comp oem replacement lifters, comp push rods, comp pro mag 1.6 RR,
Anybody have any noise problem with the comp pro mag RR or the comp cam oem replacement lifters? I have a complete comp cam valve train and there is some noise that i cant seem to adjust out. I have adjusted the valves every which way.

I don't think my valve train with Pro Mags NSA makes any more noise than my former 350 with a top end kit with Crower ss SA 1.6 RRs.
For me the main concern with a chatty valve train is knock retard; and i have none.

Are the rockers self-aligning or are you using guide plates? I don't have the comps but I do have self-aligning 1.6 crane rockers and they are not as quiet as stock. I tried adjusting them many times only to get the same result. They sound like what was described above, "smooth running sewing machine". I installed mine over 5 years ago and they still sound the same. Just be sure you are using a LT4 KM.

I had a problem with the Comp replacement roller lifters - the hard facing wore off the rollers. It didnt hurt the little Comp blower cam I had in there at the time, and it wasn't noisy. Comp, of course, didn't respond to any e-mails I sent with pictures asking about it. I had Crane rockers at the time. Now I got Comp Pro-Mag rockers and Crane replacement lifters with a bigger cam and still no noise.

Well the noise is not like a loose rocker I know that. I have adjusted the rockers every which way. Even running. It doesnt sound as bad when you back off the rocker when running but still very noisy. It seemed like before that when it was cool it wasnt as loud but after a mile or two of driving and warming up it seemed to get louder. The spring kit is one from Navarez Racing which is formerly Combination Motorsports. The engine is brand new and has less than 150 miles on it. I dont think the engine has even seen 4k rpm yet. I noticed it shortly after first driving it. At first it sounded like an exhaust gasket. It got worse. Im thinking of trying to put some of my old stamped rockers on it and see if it is the rockers. If not then I guess it would be the lifters. Im so frustrated. I appreciate all the response. I just still feel something is not correct. What are your opinions on how far to turn past 0 lash.

They are self aligning. I have adjusted them 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 past 0 lash. I even read somewhere on here you can go as much as a full turn past 0 lash. I havent gone that far yet. I may try that before I swap to stamped stock 1.5. I just dont want it to be that noisy. I would rather hear the injectors over the valve train. I definitely dont want to hear it with the hood shut.

Your problem sounds much like mine was,you will need an automotive stethascope, get the car fully up to operating temp, pull the valve covers one at a time and with it running touch each stud and listen for any that are louder, if you find any pull that rocker and check for worn valve guides by moving the retainer side to side, if you do have guide worn pull the heads and have bronze liners installed. then you will need to correct you valve train geometry, if you are using nsa rockers "you should be with that much lift" make sure your rocker tips are centered, most sbc guide plates aren't right due to lt1 valve spacing, ajustable guide plates would fix that or try gmpp or trick flow. my comp 4808 guide plate were not right. then you will need an ajustable push rod to get the length right. but not all problems are the same good luck!

Is it ok to go 1 full turn past 0 lash??? It seems to have quite down a lot. There is a little noise but not excessive noise. Of course I only drove it around the block. I plan on putting some more miles on it this afternoon.
