1.6 Rockers

So how recommened would it be to replace the valve springs if I go to 1.6 rockers while maintaining the stock cam?

It is an absolute necessity.

LT4 springs are a cheap proven alternative.

I would never go to 1.6 rockers without changing the springs (though some people don't).

if you are going to change springs spend the money for a good set not a cheap set of Lt4s,they are designed to work with a lighter set of valves.......
a set of PAC springs w/titanium retainers will give you a much more stable valvetrain so will using 7/16 studs.....just a thought!

The LT4 springs will work just fine for a simple 1.6 roller rocker upgrade. There is no need to spend ~$400 for the Pac springs/Ti retainers.

Again, still a bit overkill IMO for just a 1.6 rocker upgrade especially when the LT4 springs will suffice for less than half that cost.

You can run the Beehive's from Herron Performance, you need all the little pieces too though. Locks, retainers, seats, and go with a good set of RRs, add hardened pushrods and ur good to go.

Im in the process of doing this right now. From what I've researched and been told, I went with the LT4 Springs. I think they ended up being $44 shipped for new springs, if I decide to put a cam in it later down the road I will put a better springs in it. I used the stock locks and retainers also, it's a very easy process to change the springs. I was very nervous about doing it but I went with the TDC method and it work great. I will probably have 10k-15k miles on before i tear it down for a cam, so why put all that wear on a set of high dollar springs that are not needed with a stock cam..........Good Luck..............Mike

LOL wear and tear on a set of expensive springs, they wont even be affected by a stock cam so when you do man up and get a cam you already have goodsprings but from what i have seen lately is a bunch of people buying stuff for now and not looking down the road or better yet longivity.

I see what you're saying, but not everyone wants to go ***** out with their car down the road. Some people are happy with just rockers and don't need a cam. And as far as longevity is concerned, I haven't heard of anyone breaking LT4 springs when properly installed and with proper spring height.

When $40 springs will provide the same that $300 springs will do for the needs of the owner, the choice (to me, at least) is obvious.

well for me they'll work for now, and at the least I'll be out $44 when I do decide to "man up". I've wasted a lot more money on more pointless things in my life

LT4 cheap ???? I use them with my Crane 227, 1.52 rockers... You use the components that you believe will give the best performance.... With my setup up. it was right for me...

Waste of money by means of extreme overkill. Why put x thousands of miles on "good springs" when the "cheap" ones will more than suffice?
