1.6 RR conv. questions

first of all this is my current setup...
97 SS A4 3.23's 275/40/17's LT1, ramair w/ K&N filter, descreened my MAF, 1LE intake elbow, airfoil, stock TB w/ bypass, FRA mod to get cooler air into the engine bay, 160*, BBK UD pulley, taylor 8mm wires, new coil, new denso iridium plugs, new AC Delco o2's with extensions, 1 3/4" jet hot longtubes coated with no emissions, no EGR, no AIR, block off plates on both of the holes in the back of the intake, custom 2 1/2" primaries into a 3" collector Y-pipe, 3" cut out after the Y between it and the 3" custom flowmaster catback, OBD1 conv. w/ custom tune for my mods from PCM4LESS w/ an LT4 KM.
i havent done any valvetrain mods yet so this will be my first. i am looking at doing heads and cam and lt4 intake down the road but for now all i have the money for is the 1.6 rr conv. i am getting valve float around 6000-6200rpm right around my shift point so i need to get some new springs too. i was just wanting opinions on what brand to go with. and who has the best sales. i was thinking of going with GM's 1.6 RR's and the 987 spring kit from nutek. so whats everyones opinions on brands and prices and what my gains will be.
thanks in advance
joe

I've heard good stuff about the Combination Motorsports valve springs. They're suppose to drop in with no machine work.
How much do the GM rockers go for?

Well i would go with the cc pro magnum 1.6. They arn't much more. As for springs i'm not sure. But like i said before it is good for about 6-10 rwhp. Probably not a noticible gain. But it won't hurt at all to do and when you get your cam you will have to do it anyways.

Which rockers are you talking about for 191.00. I was talking about the PRO magnum rockers. They are around 287.00.

Wake up, Neo...
CC Promags are $259 from lots of vendors (including some who are sponsors of this site) and they won't stick it to you for 51 bucks for shipping!!! And they are a better rocker arm. The only advantave of the GM rockers is that they are narrower so you won't have to clearance the valve cover internal supports but that's not a big deal if you have a grinder or maybe a Dremel.
It's a great mod too. Made a very noticeable difference for me.

I think the pro mags are a better rocker arm. They have more clearance for larger diameter springs. The 987 springs are great too.You do have to do a little work on some of the seats so they sit flat. Not a big deal tho.
