#1 cylinder not firing! (is it the opti?)

Well Ive known that my #1 cylinder was misfiring because the exhaust header would be cold at start and the others would be boiling hot...

So heres what I did...

1. Changed the plug/wire... plug was fouled and only 2000 miles on it http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2002-.../Photo0060.jpg
2. Did a spark test by just bumping the starter, #1 got a spark
3. Thought it was a stuck fuel injector so moved #1 injector to #3... #1 still misfiring
4. Wanted to try a spark test again so I unpluged injector #1, had the #1 wire on the opti spark on a plug, grounded to the frame.

What happens? It only gets spark when the car is first cranking up, after that no spark at all!!

We tested out #3 and it gets spark all day so its not a ground problem ...

So im assuming my optispark CAP is bad? Would it be best to replace everything or just the cap? Optispark has original 47k miles

Damn opticraps!!!

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't realize that you said it stops getting spark. I would guess opti also. I would replace the whole thing.

Is the PCM telling the #1 injector to fire? Check the fuel injector connector with a noid light. They are like $3 at any autoparts store.

It has spark
It has fuel pressure (since the rest of the injectors work right?)
# 1 injector is fine (it works if in another spot)

so maybe there is a bad connection and the #1 injector is not getting a signal to fire.

If it has good spark, fuel pressure, a good injector, and a signal to fire the injector, I would reccomend a compression leakdown test.

hope this helps

Dustin
