10,000 to spend
Alright I have alittele more but I'm setting 10,000 as the limit (bugets always go over ) Anyway winter time is a coming closer and its time for me to up the hp level on the camaro. Alright 3500 of the buget is going toward a roll cage and a 12 bolt rear. I have beening running a healthy 150-250 shot on my stock motor for about a year now so I don't want to botter with heads and a cam. I basically want to do awhole new motor. I was thinking either a nu-tek or mti. I want a motor that can run high 11's with-out juice and solid 10's on juice. Oh forgot to mention emissions legal also

So you are gonna spend about $1400 on a roll cage? And you don't want to redo the topend?
For 10k you could build a nice motor, with awesome heads. Why not do te bottom end yourself? Well, I mean, buy the parts and have it done, it would most likely be much cheaper than buying a preassembled engine, since you would also be paying for the name.
For ~$3000, you could build a badass bottom end, for another $3500 you could have a real nice top end. A 12bolt will be about $2200, so that leaves you with 1300 for everything else.

Well forgetting the cage now is out of the question. Saftey first, plus have you ever been told to leave a track and not come back until you have a cage. Secondly I want a stroung third member. Well I guess I could build a motor instead of a crate engine.
I don't want to do a supercharger if anything I would do a turbo.

how much would a cage be?

I know with a turbo I would be putting in the farm. I just don't like supercharging. No flames here please. A cage is always safer. I would do one with removable or swingout sides. That kind of cage installed is alittle over a 1000. 6pt. I already have all the goodies with my no2 setup so that would be my power adder of course. Project thunder Chicken had a mti 396 crate motor that was 50 state legal and clicked high 11's at the track. That was my thinking here.

That motor they had a cc305 which dynoed around 420rw hp/tq. That cam wouldn't be the best choice a 150-200 shot. Plus with a 396 you can go 300+. The heads you will need have to make up for the small cam. I would go for some afr 195LT4's and get a custom cam that would keep in mind passing emissions. You should hit 420rwhp with a built 383 like the guys in the gm mag did. If you know a good engine builder. I would go to him. Or if you know what your doing, buy the parts and have the machining done. Look at combination motorsports' built shortblocks. They also carry afr heads and custom ground camshafts. They will set you up.

Fully race ported stock casting heads are more then capable of getting you in the 10's with a 150/200 shot, i dont personally see the need to go with any other casting
my opinion
355cid forged rods and pistons, stock crank or GMPP equivelant forged unit, prolly no more then $3000 in parts there maybe even including maching and assembly
Fully race ported heads by Advanced Induction $1800
custom cam ~$400
12bolt less then $2000 used
if its an auto? a stall converter $500
rollbar or cage if you want 10's $1500
all can be done for under $10k since you seem to have most of the other boltons i'm sure and already have the nitrous system, doing the majority of the work yourself, 10's should be very doable for under $10,000
