10's with HOT CAM? Is it possible

10's with HOT CAM? Is it possible
... With nitrous of course.
I currently have the LT4 heads, intake and HOT Cam. I was going to change the cam and do a little headwork but I have changed my mind on that.
I want to run the car the way it is until it blows. I want to add only an NX 150 shot.
What else should be done to get me close to my goal?
electric wp?
1.7 RR's?
weight reduction?
My current mods are listed in my sig.

What are you running right now? That's not much cam for 10's, you have LT4 heads correct... I'm assuming they are ported? If they are man you should just change the cam. Go with a GM847 or something, and leave the rest of the drivetrain how it is. I think it would be a lot easier to run 10's in the overall picture to just change the cam then to do a bunch of little ****. Also, the hotcam doesn't take full advantage of the 3200 vigi.

I ran a 12.7 @107 at Bristol the DA was 2600. I know it still should be faster.
The LT4 heads are just stock heads, no porting.
I thought of changing the cam, but I am leaning towards keeping what I have until it blows and then building a good motor for it.
How much do you think the car would pick up on motor just going from the HOT cam to a cam like the 847, or other cam.

Sorry I read your name and I got confused thinking you already had a 383. I was like jeeze this guy is just waiting for that 383 to blow or something??? LOL I thought that was a little weird. If you are going nitruous, switching to a cam specifically designed for nitrous will net you a NICE gain. Call combination motorsports and talk to them and they can set you up with a nice one. Off the top of my head a 224/236 with the higher lift lobes and on a 115 or 116 lsa would be nice for that motor. It's not just the max power increase you want, the 224/236 will move your powerband up so you can take advantage of the big converter and launch outa the whole straight to ludicrous speed (ala spaceballs). I'm not that familiar with n2o cams but I thought that they were similar to supercharged motor cams. Do a search about it and I'm sure you will come up with some nice info.
If you can come up with a few hundred for a nice port job on those LT4's and you do the cam, I see 11's with the cam and those heads at the 2600 altitude N/A. 10's for sure with some slicks and n2o. Anybody agree??? Don't waste your money on the small things, go for the big kahuna

hehe, yeah my old car the 95 Formula had a 383 with the 306 cam and nitrous.
I know 10's would be very possible with the heads and cam change. But I would like to do it with the HOT CAM.
Does anyone else think it is possible?
If not give me the reasons to change the cam.

I am thinking just adding small things to my setup to obtain the 10's.
So what does the majority say then, cam change or try to get the 10's with the Hot Cam and only adding bolt ons.

I'd say your going to have to have some porting on the heads www.advancedinduction.com and your gonna have to have a sweet *** suspension set up for everything to lauch correctly and get a good 1/8th mile.
FWIW, i'm using the cc305, stock suspension (which is totally shot now ) my own ported heads and other stuff I did myself and I just ran a 13.4 with an incredibley bad miss. I'm easily running low 12's with a stock converter, full street trim.
CSI water pump, some 1.6 rockers, and as much weight reduction as possible. Couple that with some good tuning and you may just get there

If I go so far as to get headwork I would go ahead and change the cam. I already have the 1.6's.
As far as the suspension goes I am still stock, only change is lowering springs. I have been able to pull a 1.69 60' on Nittos, but then had the OBD1 not shifting out of first gear problem.
With that being said if I can't reach 10's, how close do you think I can get.
I have a friend with ported heads, HOT Cam, RK SPORT headers, stock stall and an NOS 150 dry shot and he has pulled 11.31 @118
That is why I thought it was possible, on top of that his best NA pass was a 13.0

So NOMAD are you still living around Eastern Kentucky or what.
Also, does the electric wp really make much of a diference?
Does anyone else have an opinion of switchi9ng over to the 1.7's?

I do not see problems with 10s and the HOT cam with spray. My car should be getting close to 10s if it was being sprayed.
You gonna have to get the weight out of the car or make HP/TQ. I would really suggest getting all the weight out that you can live without.
I ran a best of 7.67 (1/8th) so far with my HOT cam car, i know it will go quicker, just got to get the bugs out of it. You will want it 'tuned' for what you are trying to do, that is PCM and suspension.
Good luck and you can get there...you will need less than 3500# Race weight.

It's definately doable. My car ran 11.41@118mph on a 150 shot with a screwy trans and not spraying the whole 1/4mi. with the Hotcam and a 3740lb raceweight. It isn't easy to run 10's any kind of way but it takes the right weight , horsepower, suspension and wather sometimes. I am headed to the track tommorow to try for my first 10sec. pass. I swapped cams, transmission and lost some weight. I ran 12.001@113mph a couple weeks ago N/A with a spinning 1.72 60' I put some new tires on and took a couple more #'s out so I should see at least a 11.9X@113-114mph N/A and a 10.XX@12X with a 175 shot if it hooks and nothing breaks I will post the results . Wish me luck. Oh Shon I ran a 7.64 1/8th whe it went 12.001 Later
