17in rims to 18in rims how did it affect your 1/4 mile times??

Im about to purchase some rims and I cant decide between 17 or 18in in size. How much different would 18's effect et's vs 17's?

Generally speaking, I think those who are concerned about their 1/4 mile times dont run 18's. 17's are bad enough-

Slicks wont fit

I don't know of any slicks that will fit an 18'' rim.

it will slow you down, but by how much i dont know. you cant hook up as well with the firmer side walls due to the low profile. 18s are for looks and perhaps handling. if you highway race then it shouldnt matter if you go from a roll

nitto makes an 18 inch slick I think.

normally smaller the rim (w/o going to small), the more the diameter of the rim spins which turns the wheel. aka moving the car. but going to small will cause you traction problems.

18s are VERY nice on these cars
17s are VERY nice at the track

just pick. are you at the track all the time or driving around town? 18s won't kill your time at all. My 2 cents, go with 18s

Get the 18's for the street, and some telestars or pro stars for the track!!! Best of both worlds!

The profile of the tires make the (measureable) difference, not the wheels themselves... go with 18's.

Yea i got some stock salad shooters off a Z28 that i will buy some Nitto's for when I go to the track which isnt alot. I do most my driving around town just cruising etc. I planned on goin with the 18's anyway cause i love the look of them on F-bodies. If I get in a race on the street which also isnt much since cops are out so much now, i'll just go from a roll when running someone. Or baby it off the line from a start. Thanks for the replies. Kinda helped me seal the deal on the 18's.

P.S. Oh yea, if anyone was curious, im goin with the 18x10's in the back and 18x8 in the front Boyd Coddington Smoothie II's.
