If it’s actually a “chip” that replaces the one in the stock computer (“PCM” or Powertrain Control Module) it won't work. Up through 1993 model year, the “chip” was replaceable, and generally, the only way to tune the engine. But 1994 and later has a fixed chip that cannot be replaced unless you can get someone to “resocket” the PCM so a new chip can be installed. The correct way to tune a 1994 or newer is to flash program the existing chip.
In 1994 Hypertech came out with their “Power Programmer”, a hand-held device that could alter some of the stock programming (e.g. - rev limiter, speed limiter, auto trans shift points, fan on/off temps), or even install a “Power Program that supposedly provided a small increase in HP, but really wasn't worth the cost (~$400).
Do you have a part # for the Hypertech chip? Where did you buy it?

Re: 1994 z28 camaro ecu pcm ecm
In my old age, there are a few things that are starting to annoy me. In this thread:
- he posted a tech question in the "CamaroZ28.com Podcast" forum. There are multiple notices that forum is not for "tech" questions.
- he must have received a notice that I had responded, because he signed in minutes after my response. I'm assuming he read my response. But he did not acknowledge that fact. The courtesy of a simple "OK", or at least an answer to the question I asked trying to help him would have been appreciated. He signed off, and never returned to the site.
Thanks for listening.
