1994 Z28 wont start

I have a 94 z28 Lt1 auto, with 55,000 miles. I have recently replaced plugs, fuel filter, air filter, etc. The car had been giving me problems of taking a while to start, but it always started. Within the last few weeks it has gotten bad. It hasnt started in 3 days, it just keeps cranking and cranking, but nothing at all. once in a while it will sputter, but thats for a quick almost second. I have no ideas whats causing this problem, and need help fast. I am a college student, and travel about 50 miles to school, and need my car back. what can i do?!?!? Thank you so much for taking your time to read this, and any ideas or feedback will help! Thanks!~

Jon

Also it seems not to want to start after it rains, or sometimes snows, thanks.

1. Check for spark
2. Check fuel pressure

Then post your findings...

pull one of the plugs and see if you already fouled it, if you keep trying to start it it will keep dumping fuel.

pull the pcm fuse for a min. see if that helps

good luck

Yeah, Ive seen it happen before, Check one of your plugs. Odds are it is soaked in fuel and all you will have to do is replace the plugs and it will get it going again. Now about fixing the problem of hard starting is antother story. But get it running first and go from there.

Pulled PCM fuses for 5 mins. No luck. I do not have a fuel pressure gauge, however i do smell gas when i crank it over. While cranking i hear this "clicking" noise, are these my injectors? The clicking is rather loud, and its not coming from below motor, it seems on top and infront of the block. Once it stops raining this morning im going to pull a ignition wire, and check for spark. If there is no spark, what sould i do? if there is spark what should i do? Im trying to get this car started before this afternoons classes, however i know there is never such a thing as a good "quick" fix. Thanks for your time again, and i will try to get a fuel pressure gauge and test the press. thanks!

Check all connections, Make sure that no wires are torn are not sitting propely. That is if you don't have spark. But if you do have spark, or no matter what happens, You need to replace the plugs because if it has been cranking for so long and not starting those plugs are trashed no matter what. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get it fixed before this afternoon!

I have no spark, the battery drained down, so thats has been charging. I dont know if the lack of spark was related to low battery or now, but we will see. Anything else i can to now? Im hoping that those Bosch plat 4's arent wet, but whatelse can i do withoug pulling plugs, any ideas on what can cause no spark? I am out of ideas....thanks!

where did you check to see if it was getting spark from? You may check the ignition coil because that is what happened to me and it is an easy fix. I just went up to auto zone and got a spark tester $1. and see if there is any spark coming from the coil.

problems

The same thing happend to me a month ago, I tired everything these guys have told you, none worked, ran bad in rain. For me it was the spark plug wires, un plug one from the opti, inside mine were kinda wet and oily. After I changed them it started right up. Good luck

I agree with Tanner ,If your wires are bad it wont run very well,it could be ignition module ,take it and have it checked, hope she runs>Jake

Talking

OK, thanks for everyones help, the Camaro started up yesterday! and many thanks goes to DarkRider for his idea on the ignition coil, that was the problem. The wire from the coil was also the problem, the ends were horribly corroded, so new parts in and she runs, and runs very well. It regained some of the lost power, and im hoping that the rest will come once the regular gasoline goes back on sale, instead of this winter gas. Thanks again!!!
