1996 Lt1 Hard Start
Hey guys, I have a 1996 Z28 and when i go to start the car the first time on a given day it will not start. I can crank forever and it wont start. I turn the car off and let it sit for like three seconds, fires right up.
I was thinking fuel pump, I recently replaced the optispark, coil, timing chain, icm, and maf. This was all from another issue and i drove it for about 300 miles without this cold start issue. If anyone can help please let me know.

Still having issue... if i let the car sit with the key on she will fire right up... i went out and checked the pressue at the fuel pressure regulator the other day before i tried to start it and there was none... i dont think a pump will act like this. any advice or input would be great.
Thanks guys,
Brett

How did you check the fuel pressure?
Checking pressure directly at the regulator is impossible - there's no way to do so, unless you checked pressure at the fuel rail via the Schrader valve? You say you had zero pressure - was that with the key on, engine off? Can you hear the fuel pump running?

I checked the fuel pressure at that shrader valve. It was with the car off. I read somewhere that the car should maintain a pressure of 30 psi in the lines at all times. Whether that is true or not im not sure. If i turn the key i do hear the pump kick on, prime and shut off after the three second prime. In order for it to start right away i have to let it sit in the on position for 5-8 seconds, or cycle the key a few times.
