2000 miles after switching to synthetic

this is probably hard to answer with any certainty...but after the cleaning effect synthetic has on old dyno oil gummed seals...think I am out of the woods? as far as leaks?

the Lt1 engine & tranny in my car after Mobil1 10w30 motor oil and Mobil one synthetic tranny fluid used starting 2000 miles ago there are no leaks...at all

I have heard that synthetic may actually cause more leaks, due to the fact that more gunk in dyno oil would mean more sealing power too. I switched to synthetic after I bought my car and frankly, I haven't noticed much of a difference. There was a slight leak in the front somewhere, and it's still there. Not really enough to bother with.

If it's a bad leak you might as well find out where it is and replace the gasket/seal. It's the same concept as a leaky radiator. Stop leak fluids may work for a while, but the leak will be back, and your system might get clogged up as well.

If switching to synthetic actually stopped a leak for you, then congrats, you've got better luck than I do.

Oh Ok I get it...

Yeah it sounds like you're safe... for now.

I will say that engine will spring a leak- it's just a matter of when. Very few people's LT1s actually never have any leaks, but at least switching to synthetic didn't cause you any problems...

Talking

that's great news...for now ...thanks! but now that I think about it your answer isn't going to make me quit checking for leaks on a regular basis...just comes with the territory with these cars eh...
