28x10x15 Tires?
Would tires that size fit on our cars without rolling the fender? My friend has some slicks he'd let me borrow for a couple runs at the track, but they're a 28 inch tall slick. Not drag radials or ET streets, they're slicks. Anyone know if they'd fit without having to modify the body?
P.S. I tried searching and couldn't really find anything.

You need an exact tire selection, with the actual tire diameter... not all 28" tires are 28.0". And not all tires are the same as the published dimensions.
I ran Hoosier QTP's, 28x11.5-15 (exactly 28.0") and they were fine up to about 125mph trap speeds. Then they grew enough to start contacting the sheet metal at the front of the wheel opening. I moved the axle back about 1/4" with adjustable LCA's and it eliminated the rubbing.
Then, in anticipation of launching with a full 300-shot, I went to ET Drag 28x10.5-15W's. Although the published dimension was 28.1", they apparently are a lot larger than that. When I went to bolt the wheels on the car, the tire wouldn't even fit in the wheel opening. I cut about 1/2" off the front edge of the rear bumper cover and they fit inside the wheel opening.... but they still looked too close. I took another 1" off the bumper cover to play safe. The car has been run on a chassis dyno at the equivalent of about 140mph and there was no interference with the tires.
Click on "Trailer Queen..." below for a view of the ET Drags.....
Just curious..... have you made some major increases in power that you feel necessitate a 28" tire? Are you going to 4.10's or higher to compensate for the increased diameter?

No, no major power increase. I figured if he would let me use them and I could, why not? I haven't ran at the track yet with my latest mods, I will saturday we'll see what happens with traction, I'm still using street tires, not drag radials. Just for reference, I beleive they are actually hoosier QTPS.
Another reason for the actual slicks, if I am close enough to 12s, I thought it would be cool to run 12s on the stock convertor and 2:73s. We'll see what happens, I might just try them on. I definately won't be trapping 125.

Just remember..... its going to feel like you swapped in a set of 2.50 gears......
A 28" tire also eats up a huge amount of HP.... I was chasing 30 elusive rwHP when I compared the ET Drags with tubes to the dyno pulls done with 315/35-17 BFG DR's.
