Only things I can think of that would make it heavier is the motor, sway bar (stock), larger rotors and brakes, radiator, fans, larger transmission. Oh inflated ego

They share the same auto transmission and the T-56 can't weight more than like 10lbs more than the T-5. And dont 98+ cars all share the same brakes? THe main bulk of extra weight in a Z28 is still in the motor.

The Z trans bell housing is larger but yes, most of the weight is in the motor.

I think they may share the same brake setup as in rear disks but I think the spindles and rotors are different.

Listen to this guy and save yourself a huge headache and a lot of money and just buy a decent used LT1 car . They can be found in good condition now days for under $5k. Even if you find a "high mileage" one with 80 or 90K I wouldn't be too concerned. Sure they will probably need a tune up and some minor work but it's going to be nothing compared to a V6-V8 conversion. There are many people on this board with stock & modded LT1's with over 100K and their LT1 is still going strong. Hell, I think I've seen some guys pushing 200K on the original motor.

Oh, and I assume the reason a lot of the V6 f-body guys want to do this conversion so bad is to avoid higher insurance rates for the V8. Not a good idea if you wreck the car someday and the insurance adjuster sees the good ol LT1 under the hood of your V6 car. Don't think they won't screw you for insurance fraud

Just my $.02 but I think you can find a LT1 for less than the conversion costs. How about finding a wrecked LT1 and use your car's sheet metal.

but the camaro v6 is considered a sports car....v8 is still considered a sports car....with some companies doesn't it just matter if it's considered a sports car....not size of motor?

if you want to learn

sell your car for $4k

buy a Z with high miles for $5k

rebuild the whole thing to a 383 or 355

you may pay an extra grand or two, but learn SO MUCH MORE

They are both considered sports cars but there are different ratings for each based on a few diffrent factors. Engine size, speed rating, etc.. The difference in insurance for me between the Z and the V6 was $72.00 a year. But being older than dirt and having no tickets helps

As for the weight difference my car is more like a 1LE Camaro.

I have no options what so ever, no foglamps, no power windows, no power seats, no t-tops...

in 3 hours of weight reduction I almsot had the car under 3,000, I had it at 3020. But average street trim its about 3150-3200(only weight reduction spare and jack)

How many z28s have you seen near that?

Z28s come with alot of options standard that my basic v6 does not have.
