3.42s to 3.73s

Did a research but couldn't find what I needed. Anyways, this question is for guys and gals who have gone from stock 3.42s to 3.73s. Is there much difference between the two (enough to justify paying $200 or so)? Let me know what you think. I think 4.10s will mean trouble for me (no traction) so those are kind of out of question. Thanks.

Save your money for another mod theres not much of a diffrence
if you would go with 4.11's it would be another story.

With the Hotcam and that 6Spd.. I'd go with 4.10's instead of 3.73's. I only went with 3.73's because i have an A4

Hey how do the those 373s do on the highway? What kind of rpms do you run? I would like to lose the 273s for some 373s but i do alot of highway driving to and from work.

I put 3.73s in my M6 car. Actually i swapped the whole rear axle out. With the 3.73s and a 1LE driveshaft it did liven the car up. Most people go with 4.10s. Ideally i would have gone with a 3.90 but i don't think they make that gear for a 10 bolt. I have experience with 4.10s too. If I had to do it again it'd be a tossup but i'd probably stick with the 3.73s. Those extra rpms that you'd turn on the highway are right at the rpm border where my car really gets loud. If you are only concerned with track times though the 4.10s would probably better utilize 4th gear for you.

2700-2800 at 80mph.

Only reason i bought the 3.73's is because i went to a new Cam and a higher Redline/Powerband.

If you have the Stock LT1 cam and don't plan on changing it.. I suggest 3.23/3.42's over 3.73's.

We're talking a 6 speed car at 80mph with 3.73's you wont be turning anywhere close to 2800rpm.
