3.73's or 3500 stall??

I just got done with the header install....was wondering what everyone thinks would be a better next mod. I have an opportunity to buy a p.i.vigilante that was just restalled to 3500 for $500....or I could go with 3.73's that would cost me about the same with labor because a gear swap is the one thing I won't do myself. Eventually both things are gonna be done, I just don't want to do them both at the same time. I want the car to put me back in my seat...not too concerned with e.t.'s The car only sees about 1000 miles per summer, if that, so fuel economy is not a concern either.

Bottom line: which mod would be more fun for right now.

If you have 2.73's get the 3.73's first. If you have 3.23's get the stall.

I do have 2.73's right now. Does the gear have a very noticeable effect on the stall speed of the tc?? I think I've read before that changes to the powertrain actually make a converter stall at different rpms.....

Mmm, im not exactly sure but i would think so. Considering your 1st gear with 3.73's will be alot shorter so I would think that the stock stall would stall a good amount of rpms higher than it did with 2.73's. Like I said im not positive but it seems like it would. Definatly will feel a better seat of the pants increase with the gears vs the higher stall on a 2.73 car. Good luck.

Thanks, I think I made up my mind(with your help) on the 3.73's vs. the 3500.

Get the gears first. Your tranny will burn up if you put a high stall converter in with the factory gears. They will not allow your converter to lock up properly and you will cause alot of heat which WILL burn your tranny. If you're going with a 3500 stall, you'll have to at least do 3.73's.

Get the 3.73 and you'll feel the sotp difference. Get the 3500 stall when you get more power, such as heads and cam.
