355 or 383??

how much difference in price would there be doing a 355 rather than a 383?

what kinda numbers are u guys getting with 355s (i dont care what combo im actually interested in all combos)?

I really wanna boost the engine, so would going along with a 355 be better (for saved money)?

and yes i do plan on doing all teh supporting mods , 12 bolt tranny uprgrad etc lol

thanks bobby

Re: 355 or 383??

price difference is about $100-200. A 355 most likely gets the same numbers a 350 does.

Well.... What is your budget?

http://www.golenengineservice.com/
They have some good looking short blocks there.
I am thinking about getting them to build forged 383 for me, in the future.
Chad from Golen seems very smart and nice. Plus thier shortblocks are not outrageously priced. Aslo they do not use your block. So you can save that for a later buildup, or a backup. Thats my plan.

Obviously you'll save tons of money if you go with a 355 and your stock crank. You wont have to clearnace the block for a longer stroke, and you wont have to spend a ton of money on a new crank. Get some good Connecting rods, rings, good berrings, and some forged pistons... get some dished pistons if you're going to run boost.

Anyway, just some ideas. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Re: 355 or 383??

thanks guys i appreciate it , im planning on buying another block and most likely having it done to a 4 bolt main

i know alot of ppl to do teh work in my area and they alway tell me to support local shops, a friend of mine actually owns a shop.

if u really wanna know , within the next year or so (im already saving up money) my budget is not gona be outragous but i will have money , also im not sure if its going in teh SS lol

when money comes i most likely want
Fully forged 355-383 (not sure as of what yet)
all supporting mods fuel system etc u know the deal
ARP heads with matching cam
most likey a D1sc or somthing of teh sort
12 bolt
built tranny
adjustable street/stips shocks/springs (i have a decent amount of suspension mods lol)
if i really wanna go rediculous ill have another power adder (nitrous) lol

well these are very early plans of development and can change ,

still wanna know if there is a major price diff between a 355 and a 383 for what i wanna do?

if its going in teh SS im gonna want it streetable (which will take more money), if not then ill just bulid a track car
