That makes complete sense now, in fact my tune is up to 6700 rpm now but what feels right to shift is 62-6300 rpm, I'm still learning my optimum shift points with this new configuration

I understand that completely. My point is that on a stock short block you inherently run a much greater risk of spinning the motor up that high. I've heard of people going as high as 6800 on the stock bottom end, but personally I would be very careful. Another point in that is that spinning that high is pretty much pointless on the street, and the starter of this thread did want driveability in a street car.

Don't get me wrong, I think the 847 is an outstanding cam, and have considered a swap to it myself if my 224/230 setup doesn't work out like I'm hoping.

Re: Re: 375rwhp ,,what cam?

Pretty good for crappy driving as you put it. I'm dying to know where mine is but don't want to dyno tune with stock LT1 heads. Right now I'm debating what heads I want? AFR 195s, LT4 Stage IIs or LT1 Stage II heads that Craig @ GTP claims will get me into the mid 11s with my present configuration. Must do more research.

The cam I'm running is right up your alley. It's a XE 224/236 ground on a 112lsa instead of the normal 114. I made 372rwhp (corrected) with the stock throttle body, shorty headers, DIY heads, non-electric water pump through the mufflers and maxing out the stock injectors in the process (no AFPR, just LT1_Edit).

It makes peak power at 6100-6200 and I shift at 6400. I've driven this car a lot with 3.42's and 4.10's and to be perfectly honest, the 3.42's weren't that bad.

Best MPH was 115 but my crappy driving could only muster a best of 12.39.

So the CC306 is 230/244. Is that cam available in a 110 LSA compared to 112(ie RPM range-TQ curve-etc.). What difference does that make compared to performance and which would be better for a stock headed car with all the major bolt ons(headers, intake, etc) with the intent of getting the heads done or at the very least a mild valve Job. and a very good tne. What kinda Numbers will that set up put down? If figure that putting in a bigger cam than currently needed to leave imprvement room for when the heads get done.

Thanks Guys

i emailed lyod to talk to him about parting my heads to match the cam i ended up getting,,ur saying he can grind cams also? someone said earlier talk to lyod to get a cam to match the heads.??
so that 224/236 makes about the most power, and still peaks around 6100-6200 rpms?

i'm not the most knowladgeable about the numbers aspect of it, but would the 227/233 be a step up from the 224/236? and seem to make a little more power.?

I've had good luck with the cam and it seems to fit into your requirements very well. I installed the cam with 45k miles on the car, and it now has well over 100k. I'm in the process of refreshing the valvetrain (replacing valvesprings etc.). I'm also switching to a Meziere water pump, adding a cutout for track use, adding 1.6 rockers to the exhaust side (already have 1.6's on the intake), adding 30lb injectors, larger fuel pump etc.. I'm gunning for 390+rwhp this spring with some extensive dyno tuning while still keeping the revs under 6200. For a street cam, it's going to be tough to beat a combo like this IMHO.

As for the other cam you mentioned, unless the lift is dramatically different, it should be very comparable if it's ground on a 112lsa. 3 degrees larger on the intake, and 3 degrees smaller on the exhaust isn't that much.

Lloyd gets custom ground cams from Joe Overton. Do a search on "Overton" to see some #'s his cams are putting down. Pretty impressive, and he will match the cam to the heads.

I have the XE230/236 on 114LSA and I made:

383rwhp @ 6000rpm
353rwtq @ 5400rpm

i would guess u shouldnt have too much trouble hitting those numbers with any of those cams. the heads alone should be a big jump in power. just and FYI, my 230/236 cam peaked at 6200 (XE grind, .520/.540 on 1.5's, 110 LSA)
