Is the fusible link the distribution block where all the (+) wires mount together on the post (red round plastic thing)?
I just have the 2 ground wires bolted to the coil (there is only 2 in the wiring harness near the coil).

distribution block is connected Indirectly. Its feed is coming from the alternator.
I do not have any fusible links that I can see. Would they be located inside the wire loom? I agree....A voltmeter would be a godsend right now.
I bench tested the starter. It engaged just fine then I reinstalled it.

In lieu of a voltmeter, even an automotive test light would suffice for what you're troubleshooting.

Have you looked at Shoebox's site for this info?

You can buy a (granted, cheapo) multi-meter for as little as $5. Why don't you have one?

Breakthrough. I got power and it turned over. Turned out it was my aftermarket trans temp gauge in the cab. The studs on the back of my trans temp gauge had the wires crossed. It cranked and turned over. One pumped guy right here!!!!
The motor has been sitting for 3 years. Do I need to prime the oil pump? It ran fine then.
I did a search on priming LT1s. Good mixed results
Some say unplug the opti harness and coil and crank away
Some say a priming tool

you have to have the intake manifold off to prime with the priming tool. I read of many priming by cutting the spark and fuel and some suggest pulling plugs. I would be tempted to go that route. Pull plugs ,change oil and filter, and cut the fuel and crank. I would also be concerned with old fuel and the possibility of a sticky injector.

So you shot yourself in the foot with the gauge wiring.
Nice going - glad you stuck to it, and got it sorted out. And it certainly was cheap.
