In terms of "MILD", what exactly are ur goals for ur motor. Building the cheapest 383 motor on a budget is not exactly the brightest idea.

i am not building the cheapest 383 and i know that would not be a smart idea...i want something unique and i am AIMING for about 425+ RWHP if this Lloyd guy can make a stock LT1 put down 400RWHP with cam and heads, then he should be able to make me put down closer to 450. I am hoping for that. The only reason for the 383 setup is as u said before, Displacment. Yes i know i could just bore and go higher compression and such, but i want a stroker...just have for a long time so i am gunna go that route now...build my motor, then build around my it as my base.
p.s.
Cams LOL i had a breakdown a while ago and bought an eclipse and rebuilt the damn 2.0 DOHCTurbo motor and now everytime i think CAM i write CAMS...what a putts i know...Thanks, Nick

i did some research and now know what claimer pistons are. I will not be buying the kit i saw on ebay needless to say. Thank You!!!
Is this guy (whose page you sent me to) any good? Does he sell good parts? The scat setups look very nice. Has anyone bought one of his setups? Will they hold up? Any other sites i could look at before i make a desicion? Thanks, Nick

as far as brians service. i went to assemble the motor 3 months later and found my rings were the wrong size. i sent him the rings back and he next dayed me the right rings. you cant find a better person to do business with.

If you do the math 425 RWHP is about 505 flywheel hp, not really mild, but with the eagle or scat bottom end you should be OK, dont skimp on machining though.
Cam and heads will mean more towards this goal than almost anything else, with 11 to 1 compression and heads that flow very good a cam like the GM 847 will get you there.

11:1 holy ****, i was thinking 10:1...Keep in mind i would like to run 93 octane, this is my everyday driver (besides the civic to go get parts in and back and forth to work). I though 9.5:1 was all you could go with pump gas...i was planning on 10:1 though cause actual compression is normally less then spec (after a little while of driving). Right? Thanks, Nick

a friend of mine had a 12.0:1 396 lt1 that ran on pump gas. the tune and the cam have a lot to do with octane tolerance. 11.0:1 is definatly safe. get a tune from pcmforless.com and get heads and cam from lloyd. it doesnt hurt that lt1s are reverse flow cooled either.
