383 build
I have sat on my 94 z28 for to long...engine and trans both pulled out the top yesterday. I have 180,000 hard miles stock lt1 and 4l60e. Trans is going to CPT I belive.I want the car to be right and made of some quality. To many people cutting cost w/parts and half a$$ builds.I doing it all right in one fatal swoop. Ive got a local machine shop over by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway doing all block work starts in a week. Bore and strock not to forget zero decked. What compression should i be shooting for to keep this streetable but i want to rule the road.
I have been looking hard at new Air Flow Research 195cc eliminator or do i need 210cc sbc lt4 racing head. Everbody says le2 or le3 . Why?? I never seen his name in supper chevy or advertise outside of this forum. He may do quality work but bigger compainies have more resources and that gives me assurance.
This is truley my first custom build. I know little about air flow or even cam lift. which brings me to my next question cam selection. "xfi" xtreme fuel injection 262-400ci lift .576/.570 w/1.6 roller rockers duration 280/288 rpm range 2000-6000 is that a streetable cam? Wow do you have some dummies reading material on engine building????? LOL come on i need help not abunch of bull$hit about how much help i need.I just dont want a cookie cutter engine...I greatly thank you for any time and feedback

Do some searches and you will have huge amounts of data.
When I did my 383, I think I barely asked a question on this board even though I was on here for literally hours a night while planning my rebuild. Every question has been asked mutiple times.
As for your CR question, focus on DCR not SCR. As you can see from my sig, I am running a bit higher than what people generally do but so far no problems and great torque.

AFR makes very good heads. Lloyd Elliot heads are very good and lots of guys have dyno proven results with his packages. As far as why he isnt widely known, I have no idea. Maybe becuase he is just a one man company, I dont know. Seems to me a would rather choose a guy who is gonna be able to help me out the most and pay attention to what I want, alot of big company's dont do that. If you contact Lloyd then I am sure he can answer any questions you have and will give you great advice as to what you should go with. His prices are very reasonable too. I am probably going to go with him in the future when I can afford to throw more money at my car. When building your engine, just do some research on here and find out what guys are having the most success with. Its good that you want to do it the right way and not take short cuts, alot of guys make that mistake. But like I said, I would give Lloyd a call, what can it hurt?? Good luck with whatever you decide. Dustin.
