383 Help

Re: 383 Help
You will need a 3.75" crank, and .30 over bore on the block, with 4.030" pistons, and whatever size rods. Some say if your going NA to go with the longest rod possible, and with FI to use a smaller rod (5.7") This is just a rough understanding that I have. You will need ported and polished heads and matched intake to keep up with the extra air the engine asks with the extra cubes. Of course you can use your CC306. don't cheap out on the machine work, that is the most important part of an engine.

Re: 383 Help
a big bank account. I have almost 5k in mine and I still haven't bought the converter and pcm program yet. There are numerous "little" parts creeping up on me so I suppose you'll need a big bank account and patience

Re: 383 Help
I would like to know these questions and they go along with the thread: Do you need a new oil pump with a 383? Or if you have fairly high miles should you get a new one? How much? Are there any other parts you must have with a 383 (I don't mean heads, cam, injectors, tb, clutch, 12-bolt, or anything like that; I mean just what you need to get it going without having to yank the whole engine out of car again to replace it. Anything you would just be stupid not to replace or upgrade while the block is out.)
