383 Runs great! But it won't shut off!
Hey guys, started her up today, it runs so awsome, and the open headers are really loud. I got the fuel pressure all set, no leaks at all, temps are good, oil pressure good. But when I turn the key off, the engine will now shut off. When I first connected the battery I heard my fuel pump turn on, the door ajar sound beeped once, and the SES, ABS INOP, and some other dash lights were on and the key wasn't even in the ignition. I'm not sure where to start, I only have book 1 of 2 for the 1995 Camaro factory manual, so I don;t have any wiring schematics to look at. I don't think its the key cylinder becasue it was fine before I did the swap and I didn't mess with any wires under the dash except to install the LT1 Scanmaster. To turn the car off I just disconnected the 6AL's power supply. Can someone please tell me where to start.

The scan master simply plugs to power ground and ALDL right?
If that is so I can't see that being the trouble.
Where are your starter wires connected? Grounds on block?
Make sure the purple wire is the only wire on the small terminal on the starter.

scanmaster is spliced into the back of the DLC, the starter isn't continuously running, I already went through that lol, the "B" terminal wiring was touching the "S" terminal so when I hooked up the battery it would try to start. Maybe its a stuck ignition relay of something like that, because as soon as the battery is hooked up the accesories have power.

i have a in tank walboro 255 feeding a external A1000, -8 line to the Aeromotive FPR, 42# injectors, and PCMFORLESS tune, and FP is set at 45psi at idle with vac line off and plug.

Re: 383 Runs great! But it won't shut off!
On the schematic the power goes from the battery directly to key through the fuseable link. The ign switch moves power from there to the rest of the system (except for the power side of all relays, they are to battery with fuseable links) these relays are all switched through either the ECM (which gets its power from the ign switch and batt), or the ign switch to its trigger sensor or switch. If the key is in the off position no dash lights can come on, this lends to the ign switch itself.

I would see if the key is in the off position is power is still moving though the switch first, if so then I would replace it. It should have power only on one side when the key is off.

replaced the ignition switch, still doesn't shut off. As soon as I hook the battery up, the entire dash has power, the Scanmaster is on, my fuel pump turns on for a second, and the door ajar beeps 2 or three times. Any have anymore suggestions please?

Thats why I sugested checking the switch first before buying it, but I know how you feel , I get anxious too when I get stumped.
I'll look over the scematic really good and get back to ya.

thanks, I appreciate it. my next thing to try will be the PCM, the PCM controls all those grounds doesn't it? Maybe I have a bad PCM, I have a spare so I'm going to hook it up and see if the cluster still has power without the key.

According to the GM wiring schematic for a 95, there is a RAP switch that is befor (or coinciding with ) the ignition switch that has direct power to it.
RAP stands for Retained Accessory Power
What it does is when you shut off the car with the doors still closed you can run all your accessories for a period of time, but I'm not sure that if it was bad the car would remain running independant of the key.
I'll keep looking.
