383, Stock Radiator, Street Driving

Hey guys, I am building a 383 solid roller with 11.5 to 1 compression. A/C will be operational and have an automatic trans. Do I need a bigger radiator to cruise the car? I am in the deep south, I want to know what I can get away with. I will also be running the stock shaft driven water pump.

all depends on how hot the car gets. I would suggest
replacing your stock fans with better fans, and if it keeps getting
hot, go with a better radiator.

I have had no problems with the stock radiator and fans. My car will hang around 180 deg in traffic in the middle of summer. There are a lot of people running strokers on the stock cooling system. It seems to be up to the job.

No problems here either. Running a stroker with 11.3:1 compression, A/C, and auto tranny. When this radiator goes, I might spring for the Be Cool unit, but its pretty pricey.

I have a 383 too but with ~9:1 compression and a blower (see sig for more details). So far my car is staying pretty cool. I would recommend cleaning the fins out at the very least. I am also using an M6 radiator instead of an A4. I have a B&M Tranny supercooler so I did not need to use an A4 radiator.

Hope that helps,
Claude

Stock radiator is just fine for me also. I'm running a 160* stat, electric h2o pump, and motor never runs over 180*.
