4.56 gears in 6 speed?

I was wanting to put some of these in a 12 bolt but I was wondering if these are too big? I was also wondering if you would suggest maybe 4.10's over these....I just want to make the car come to life.....thanks for all responses!

My opinion is 4.56's are too big. 4.10's are as high as I'd go...and actually suggest for the M6. I've heard that with the 4.56's first gear is pretty much useless. I think you'd be happy with 4.10's, it'd definitely improve the SOTP feeling

If your car is a daily driver, you'll be doing LOTS of shifting with 4.56s.

id be going 1-4 a lot or 2nd gear starts...

with 4.54's

your 2nd gear is almost what 1st would be with 3.42s

3rd is almost exactly what 2nd would be

4th is actually steeper than 3rd with 3.42s

5th almost exactly what 4th would be

and 6th is a bit taller than 5th with 3.42s

Yes this is my daily driver but if 4.56 are too steep then what about 4.30's? I have a friend with 4.10's and I wanted something with a little more.

I have 4.33s and love them. I also am using a bigger cam however that loves to wind out (6600ish).

Gas mileage didnt even really go down. YOu simply use 6th gear on normal streets that you wouldnt even think about before.

Highway your rpms are above 2k most of the time, but never get about 3k unless you are simply floating.

I used to have 4:10's with my stock rear and now have 3:89's in the 9-inch. I regret not going with 4:11's and have a new set in my garage waiting to go in when I get time. Just lately, I have been thinking about 4:33's. Screw it, I only drive 1.5 miles to work. They may not be ideal for my current set up, but I would like to in the future go a little wilder. Now if I can just get Summit to trade me my 4:11's for some 4:33's. Anybody know how many RPM's you would be turning at 120 MPH in 4th gear with stock height tires?? I'm thinking at least 6800. Guess I will just have to get a bigger cam!!

Im running 4.56's and i think they are way better than my old 4.10's! First gear is not useless, but of course im turning 6500. A bud of mine just put them in a stock z and his first wasnt as good as mine due to the stock rev limit, but still very usefull. As in jus daily drivin goes start off in second then switch to fourth then to sixth. My 4.56's took care of most my "off idle hesitation" that everyon complains with in m6 cars plus gives you a great jump off the line. well hope that helps.
