400+hp on stock bottom end with h/c setup?

Is 400rwhp possible on a stock bottom end with just head and cam and if so what heads do you recommend. I'm trying to get some ideas for next winter in the off season when I'm not running brackets.

Maybe I should say with supporting mods..... And I guess I'm not really looking for hp but ET on the 1/8th. I have tuned headers, full suspesion, working on ignition(could use some ideas), 4.10 gears through the factory 10 bolt, AC delete pulley and hypercrap tunner for right now......

Headers,gears,stall,h/c sticky tires should get you 11s or better in the 1/4 depending on how big you go. A good stall will really help out.

Speed Demon will chime in here soon enough. He runs an AI H/c package and is doing it. I did it with a LE1 package. I'm sure there are others out there that have done it with other options too, like AFR's or TFS heads and an off the shelf cam. There are so many options out there these days it really is up to you and what you feel comfortable with.

400rwhp is definitely possible on the stock bottom end. Alot of it will factor on your heads/cam combo and the supporting mods that are done. As suggested though, I would do a "search" as there are many routes you can go in your combo to get those numbers.

yea you can do it. Your also going to need headers and exhaust though. Depending on the amount of head work and how big the cam is, you may need the intake ported and add a 58mm tb.
Also TUNING, that is what will make or break you and your car.

I already have tuned hooker headers, 4.10 gears and more than enough slick under it so I guess I should jus start planning my h/c and stall. Thanks for the help guys.

If you have a stalled auto you will have a hard time breaking 400rwhp. Low 11's shouldn't be a problem with a well setup car though.

If I can do any kind of 11 on that kind of setup I don't care what my hp is. As long as it's consistent and decently quick. It's my bracket car and I kind of have it out for a local LS1 that runs 7.81 on the 1/8th mile.......

That makes me feel alot better. He dynoed at 475 rwhp but the time just doesn't show it. He is running it through an M6 and 9" with 4.33 gears.

Please don't involve the hypertech anywhere in this equation and know ahead of time that there is more to getting down the track than any one part (that includes cylinder heads).

If you wanted low 7s 8th mile, it should be no problem with the right combination. My car dynos crappy, but 400rwhp is only a great number if your car backs it up.

It will be gone the next time I get a few weeks down time since brackets start next week or the next time I do something that requires tunning. How about some choices to pick from?
