486rwhp, 571lb-ft: Fairly Stock LT1!
I'd like to thank Mike at Innovative Tuning, here in Buffalo NY for being open on such a wintery day. Despite a few inches of snow, I drove down to Innovative and dynoed 486.9rwhp and 571tq. I'll wash the car when I get home! The dyno is a dyno dynamics. Story and car specs below:
This is my daily driver.
The hp was done with a bottle on only 4-5lbs, with what would be average pressure, so I wasnt at optimal, but getting a solid bottle on short notice in winter didnt happen. Paul (nytrus1) did come through with the bottle, a much needed relay, and great help as usual though.
The torque was measured from 4k rpms on, at which point it was already on a serious downswing at 571, so it would have been much higher 1k rpms earlier I'm sure.
The car:
1994 Camaro Z/28 1LE
122,600 miles
Original, stock T56 transmission w/ factory Hurst shifter
Moser 12 bolt with 3.42 gears
Engine:
Stock block 2 bolt main LT1
Stock cast crank
Stock rods (not the 95+ powdered metal ones)
Stock hyperucraptic pistons (original from 94 internals w 122k)
Stock Heads - No porting
LT4 hotcam kit with 1.6rr
N20:
Zex DRY kit for LT1s. 125 shot jetting.
Fuel:
Walbro inline 255 from Zex kit
Stock 24lb injectors
Stock fuel rails
Stock fuel regulator
Stock fuel lines
Ignition:
Original Opti
Stock coil
MSD Wires
(no msd box installed yet)
Exhaust:
SLP midlength headers
SLP Y pipe
Borla catback
With a good tune and using zex standard jetting it ran well, but we freshened the engine last fall to make sure. At 122k it was still so clean that we reused the whole rotating assembly with nothing more than a hone. New rings, gaskets, rod bolts and main studs with a few tricks here and there and it was back up and out. Heads have no work done to them. If anything, the cam is probably a little worn from all I put it though, haha.
The car is my example of what a few grand in parts and a solid v8 rwd american pushrod car can do. As a modded 1LE, it is incredible on turns as well. My late season track visit netted some mph traps in the mid 120s, but as the dyno told us tonight, the jetting for those runs were not optimal AT ALL. I switched back to the Zex 125shot jetting after the first run, and saw substantial gains.
I'll take her back in the spring after some tweaks and I fully expect over 500/600, respectively.

Those are some very impressive numbers. My car with just bolt-on's and 150 shot from a TNT kit made 443 RWHP and 514 RWTQ-stock internals. It also made 300 RWHP and 314 RWTQ on motor with no tune. What did your car make on motor alone?

Well a 125 dry shot isnt a very big shot afaik, as long as we build a good motor and tune. Originally I was rebuilding the engine to sell the car, but then I came to my senses. So I would have done a budget 383 with forged pistons, but the work was already done, and I've been running it at this basic level now for a few years without the need to step up.
I dont have NA numbers. This is the way my car is Aspirated, Naturally

Very nice numbers. I'm running a similar setup as you, though I do have forged pistons which adds nothing to power. That ZEX kit is definately a decent kit. I bought mine used for $325 and swapped in the 125HP jets for the last bottle I ran through it. When it comes on at 3,600 RPM it's just flat-out awesome! So you were trapping in the mid-120's on the spray? That's insane! What kind of times were you pulling with those traps(I understand that traction may have been an issue). Do you have any N/A dyno pulls? I'm curious as to how much power the 125 HP jetting really gives you at the rear wheels.

I dont have any NA numbers, sorry.
Yes I netted mid 120s on the squeeze, but it was on a shot that turned out to be smaller than the one that put up these dyno numbers. It was wild year swapping parts between cars and getting out to run on the street, so I only had one shot at the track before winter hit. I only had 45 minutes before the track was closing, so I didnt get a chance to get the slicks all set and launch how I wanted, so I left easy for like a 1.87 launch just to get off the line at all. With the corrections I'm making right now, some extra HP and a boatload more traction, the car wont have a problem doing what I want it to. That should hold its own until the other car is ready

I actually had forged pistons but they were brand new 'left overs' from a different blower setup I didnt go with. The compression was too low to use. Since I was freshening the motor anyway, the only cost really would have been pistons. I was and easily still could have still been running this power level on the 122k motor though, it was spot on. Really the only reason I hadnt put up great track times earlier was because I am on my eleventy billionth 10 bolt. I kept obliterating them in street races. Guess they didnt want to hold up to 600tq through a manual tranny droppin the bomb on a high RPM launch, haha.
Edit: O yeah, it went low 11s while I was there. There are a few local trolls running their mouths, overly interested in exact numbers, so I want them to bring their money and find out the specifics. Then I'll post some spring videos and slips when I have it dialed in as I plan. 2 short months to wait.

Wow, those numbers are getting me excited and that tq# is sick! I have almost the exact same mods as you plus I have a few more boltons and a nitrous kit is next on my wish list I cant believe the numbers you can hit with N20, I cant wait to try it out on mine.

I know of LS1's making that kinda HP with just a cam, bolt-ons and mildly ported heads
oh, and heads/cam/bolt-ons aren't so obviously illegal too - but i guess you could always just hide the bottle somewhere; God forbid a cop search your car though
someone needs to really work on the heads for our cars get us up with those LS1 guys - its possible, just need the right combination of people and heads
oh yea, Delteq rocks
just my $0.02

Hey guys, I know someone with a mustang cobra that did close to that hp level with full exhaust and a pulley swap. Who gives a crap.......
