Re: 52 mm or 58 mm TB

because the stock manifold is not bored out enough to handle the 58mm, it will bottleneck like a ****, unless you bore the 2 holes open to acomidate for the 58mm like iam doing

Re: 52 mm or 58 mm TB

good question! Thats the basic answer though...where is the starting point in getting a 58, i think what he is trying to ask. i mean i'm going to have heads ported to around 290 and port match the manifold, to accecpt a 58. This will be complimenting a hotcam, so is this much power call for a 58?

You have no cam, heads nor is the bottom end opened up at all. You have no need for any more air. General rule of thumb I read is mods less than 383 use a 52 and 383 or more use a 58.

A modififed 48 will get you to 52 at half the price of a 58 (which as mentioned won't get you any more power). Use the money you save for a tune or CAI or beer.

Re: 52 mm or 58 mm TB

I read in advanced tech once that a 500+ RWHP Solid roller LT1 with a 58mm TB was open 90% at peak horsepower which is about the same as a 52mm TB open 100%

I would stick with a 52 unless you go FI.

Save the money and apply it to a set of 1.6 RR's.

I dont see why your going to get one OR the other. Your sig. doesn't mention a thing about headers. For about the same price, maybe a little more, you could get much larger gains with a set of long tubes. Just my opinion.
