58mm TB Owners inside!!

I have a 58mm Holley TB...We tried to do some Dyno-tuning last night, but we kept getting the Code 21..TPS Sensor....Why is that?? How do we get around this? It reads fine until the motor goes into WOT, then it goes back to the stock reading, and makes it "real fat" )rich)...I need help!!

let me guess your car is an auto? i had the same problem, you need pcm reprogramming, or slot the TPS sensor to adjust the voltage back to normal readings.

im not sure of the voltage on the TPS it should be a certain voltage at idle (closed throttle) and a different voltage at WOT (open throttle)

give me few minutes and i do a quick search and find you a link....

btw i seen your sig, 12.1 at 115 with what sixty foot?

check out my sig, that is a NASTY sixty foot.....lol

INJUNEER explains exactly how to check and adjust the TPS sensor.

If you are getting a SES light related to the TPS sensor (voltage high I presume) then the adjustment for this is NOT in the PCM. You simply slot the TPS and rotate it to give you an idle voltage of between .2 and .9 volts (in the middle if you can but not important). The PCM adjustment is to account for the greater amount of air flow through the throttle body for the same percent open of the blades... which results in softer shifts. The PCM reprogramming is done to get the shifts back up to the normal firmness and is not related to the SES light

The instructions that came with mine said something about slotting the TPS to get the right reading.

Ya, the voltage is too high...Basically, its fine at Part throttle, but as soon as it goes into WOT, it goes back to the stock settings....it doesn't keep up, and it runs really "fat."...The AFR was like 11.9-12.1...before that it was even richer...like 11.5...As soon as I "slot" it, how much will this help?? The #'s really didn't match up, and I hope I find them somewhere...Thanks all!

Which way would I rotate the sensor?? how much at a time, etc?? Just wondering where to start "slotting.." Any "tech guide" pics?? or anything? I just dont want to tear up a TB...

Would this also be my hesitation on start-up? If I let it sit a while, 20-30 minutes, it doesn't want to start, like its starving for fuel...

k....got some #s for ya..at closed throttle it should read around .2-.3 volts..right? Ok, then at WOT it should read around 4.9-5.0 at WOT? Correct?? Well, mine is messed up..lol Everything is reading correctly except when it goes into WOT, the % goes to 8.2...WTF??

I had the same problem with my Holley. I slotted it but still had problems. The final fix was I made a stop bracket for WOT which was about 2 degrees from the where it stopped by itself. The TPS is going out beyond what the PCM is ready for. No more problems after that.

I tried to reply but got mailbox full..
Here's what I said:
I wish I had some pictures but right now my car is at the shop finishing a 396 install.

I merely bent a piece of metal and put a hole in it through one of the throttle bracket bolts that stopped the throttle once it showed 100%.

Took about 20 minutes.

I'll try and take some pics once I get the car back.
