70k Miles

70k Miles
I'm lookin to buy a Trans Am. The car currently has 70,000 miles. How reliable was the LT1 engine? Will it run fine with 70k miles?
I would like to start modding the car also. Nothing THAT heavy, maybe just headers exhaust and intake. Is it a bad idea to upgrade the performance on a 70k mile 1993 LT1?

Bah, 70K is just getting broke in for an LT1.
These engines are amazingly tough. Mine is running great at 80K and my friend's 95 had about 150K HARD HARD HARD miles on it and it STILL ran smooth without using a drop of oil. Even the 4L60E made it that far without a hiccup. And I can't remember a day that I didn't see him burning rubber and blasting to over 100mph leaving school. I mean seriously, he beat that car like a red-headed stepchild and it begged for more. I guess he was trying to blow it up to have an excuse to get an LS1 and it wouldn't have any of that. Funny how these cars have feelings LOL
Of course, cars like that are few and far-between. But still, it is a true testament to how tough they are. Even though the 4L60Es are problematic (which is why I'm converting to an M6 while it's still working good), it's mainly the little crap like electrical/ignition stuff or leaks that plague them. Other than that they're bulletproof.

my car has 84,5XX on it, and its running great. (bought it with 84,2XX on it) lot of receipts came with my car and shows basic maiantance was done to the car, and lots of the common problems had already been taken care of, so I got off lucky
