87 Hyd Roller cam in a Lt1, whats it take?

To run an 87+ Hyd roller cam in a LT1, is it just the dowel needs to be modified? 87+ use retainer plates like Lt1s. Will the pilot hole being shallower effect any thing?

I don't think it will effect anything if you plan on running your non-vented opti. I don't think the spinned opti drive goes far enough through the cam gear to protrude very far into the cam face / pilot hole (if at all). Been awhile since I messed with the non-vented though. If the shaft happens to be to long, you could always cut it back on the cam side.

I have heard of people doing the swap, just not enough in fo out there, one of the guys who did it was running a vented opti. I may switch over when its all apart. I think My current Opti only has about 17K miles on it though

Vented opti may be a little tougher. You might have to machine the face of the cam to accept the the oringed shaft on the vented opti.
