93 LT1 adapted to 96 computer and harness
Hey how r yall. First time on here. Last hope. Can anyone please tell me. I have 93 LT1 in S10. Computer is bad, and I was told that it was not repairable by I think their name is Module Experts in Jacksonville Florida. I have a 96 LT1 with computer and harness. But I want to continue to get the best out that 93 that's in the truck now. Is it possible to adapt the 96 computer and harness to the 93. Dont really have the money for all the Holley components now. Please help.
Oh yea and cannot find another 93 computer anywhere
I think 93 was year specific, and then there's 94 and 95 obd1 and 96 and 97 obd2 I think. Optispark different in 93 and other differences. Please help. Thanks

Re: 93 LT1 adapted to 96 computer and harness
I think it would be easier to find a 93 ECM. They seem to be available on eBay, Hawks Motor Sports has a used one, several sources claim to repair them. Not cheap.
The differences between the OBD-1 93 (with no MAF, batch fire injectors) and OBD-2 96 (MAF, sequential injection) are significant. The 96 PCM would need significant reprogramming to delete the intrusive emission controls and diagnostics using components the don't exist on a 93 engine. The 96 PCM would be looking for interfaces on the transmission that don’t exist in 93, particularly if you are running a 4L60.
At this point you have probably interfaced the 93 harness body connectors with your S10. There are pinout differences between the engine harness/body harness connectors. Shoebox has a summary, by year, of the interfaces:

He also has a good summary of differences between each year 1993-1997:

Re: 93 LT1 adapted to 96 computer and harness
I have a 93 Camaro LT1 and I have been researching replacing the existing ECU for more programming flexibility as well as replacing the Optispark ignition with an LS type ignition. EFI Connection now has a plug and play kit that uses their 24x crank and cam signal kit, LS style coil per plug, Holley Terminator X ECU as well as the plug adapters to integrate with the Holley wire harness. Not a cheap option nor exactly what you are looking for, but as a fellow 93 LT1 looking for longevity, it's a good one. Go here for more information.
