93 lt1 problem...

well i have the 3.23's so i usually like to do a 25mph roll.... now every damn time i do it, it goes up to around 5k and seems like a rev limiter is kickin in cuz it keeps bouncing. Bought some tr55 v-power and taylor spiro wires... i'm hoping thats the problem. My friend just brought my car back to me after his friend had done a computer tuning to my car and he said when he did a 25 roll it was fine. So yea, it doesn't do it all the time. So are plugs and wires all I should be worried about?

Oh and does anyone know what the v-power tr55s should be gapped to. I'm not heavily modding my car so would .055 be bad? (thats what a friend suggested to do) or should i just stay with the stock .050

The other thing I'm wonder is that at summit the salesperson told me i should get two of the wires with straight angles so which ones would they go to...

Re: 93 lt1 problem...

I had the problem that it felt like the car was hitting rev limiter at 5000 when i usually shift my car around 6500. I replaced the coil and while I was doing this i found a cut wire. I put some electrical tape on it until I can get time to put new plugs and wires in it. This fixed the high RPM surge. Ialso have a really bad arching problem on 5 of the 8 spark plug boots. I think this is what is causing my low RPM miss/surge. I'll repost when i put new wires on, and this time I am going to make sure i put my heat shield boot covers on. Also I gapped my plugs at .048.

Good Luck
Dan

Re: 93 lt1 problem...

Well last night I used a friends garage and he got the spark plugs and wires changed for me in about 4 hours total. I used tr55s and used the .055 gap. Also used the taylor spiro red wires which I got an extra two in the box...i dont know if that was a mistake or not but whatever. Now it seems to be running fine... the rev limiter problem seems to be gone for now. but it still takes a little cranking before it starts. I thought the plugs would change that. Hope its not the opti cuz i dont have $4,569,485 at this point to replace the dang thing lol.

Re: 93 lt1 problem...

Oh and i don't know how many times i've read that the drivers side takes the longest.... my friend was done in 45 minutes. The passenger side however took like 3 hours. I don't know how he did it without having a good view. I'm not very mechanically inclined like he is but I got under the lift and looked at the engine from underneath. Did GM hire a buncha midgets to get them stupid things in or what?

Narrow the plug gap to .035 and it will crank and run better and take the load off of the opti that cost 4,569,458 and make it last longer. The wide plug gap is for emissions.
