94 Cat Back v 96 Cat back

94 Cat Back v 96 Cat back
Hey Board,
I have a 94 Z28. I installed edelbrock headers and y-pipe with a high flow cat that runs through the factory I-pipe with a flowmaster muffler.
I am planning on ripping out the stock cat-back and high flow cat and replacing it with a SLP 2OTL from a 96 SS. Can I just have the muffler shop weld on some extra 3" stainless steel to bridge the gap? Any other mods I will have to make to pull this off?
Help appreciated.
Thanks.

that's all you should need, depending on what the shop quotes you for price you may be able to save some $$ by lookin into the S pipe that either tbyrne or thunder racing sells...just a thouht..

Cat-back
Hey Teke-
I thought you only needed the s-pipe if you were using a 95-97 dual cat setup to bring it over to the 93-95 cat location.
At any rate, I am goin to get it welded up as soon as the roads are dry.
Thanks for your opinions.

It is on!
I had it installed on the car. I need an s-pipe, so that is the only part still 2.75. The cat and cat-back are 3" now. I was disappointed at first with the sound at idle - really tame compared to the flowmaster. When you get on it, this thing screams - noticeable SOTP power gain. I can't wait to dyno it again!
Thanks for the help fellas!

Edelbrock Headers
Hey Greasepunk-
I did notice a good gain with the headers even though I did it backwards. I just replaced my catback now and should have done that before the headers. I bought them used from this board and had them jet hot coated so they look new. I am very happy with them and do hear everyone saying go with long tubes. I did not want to worry about clearance and these headers I could actually afford on my rather constrained budget. Plug access is ok and no burned wires yet - I most likely will replace wires at 100K with the factory set so no buning will take place.
My car dynoed 264/299 on a dynojet with the fipk, headers, 1.6 roller rockers and flowmaster muffler(no catback so pretty choked). I am expecting to get it dynoed again this summer after my hotcam goes in.
Here is my car page if you want to see how they look installed:

Good Luck,
