94 lt1 into 96 car
#2
I'm putting a 94 LT into my 95z, do you have the 96 opti and timing cover? The 96 opti will not work with the 94 cam snout for sure. PM me if you have any specific questions, as I'm nearing the light at the end of the tunnel lol.

The 94 will not have a crank position sensor, so you would have to have that programmed out of your 96 PCM. You could swap the cam, timing cover, timing set, CKP sensor, crank hub, vent hoses, harness extension and vented Opti from your 96 onto the 94.
The 94 knock sensor is not compatible with the 96 PCM. Swap your 96 knock sensor onto the 94 engine.
There will be a vacuum detection switch on the 96 valve cover that can be swapped to the 94 engine, to satisfy the 96 PCM input for the EVAP system vacuum detection.
An "early" 94 will have the oil pressure sensor above the oil filter, rather than on the top/back of the block like the 96.

No. The CKP sensor was added on OBD-2 for misfire detection. Engine will run fine without it. Jusr won't have misfire detection.
If you keep the 94 Opti it will be a step backwards since 94 is unvented. 96's vented Opti is more reliable.
