95 Z-28 distributor problem

I'm on my 4th distributor at post time and at about a thousand dollars with wiring harness I don't want to replace another. Has anyone had similar problems? I know the water pump is close but is not leaking- I keep wondering if there is a ground wire that the shop is missing. Anybody familiar with this problem-HELP

This needs to be in lt1/lt4 Engine Tech

And get a dynaspark and be done with it. There is a good chance it the coil or the icm however, you have to describe the symptoms.

Re: 95 Z-28 distributor problem

Thanks- was looking for electronics/tuning section and I guess I chose the wrong category- sorry.

The symptoms are the car starts stalling and eventually won't strat- mechanic checks injectors, fuel pump, etc. Finally I hear another distributor- I saw the shorted/melted wires from the wiring harness last time.

How much for a Dynaspark and what's the advantage?

Thanks for the help

If you are paying $1,000 per Opti install, you are getting hosed. You can get a new GM unit for less than $250 and install it yourself in a couple hours.

Does your car have an mods.... like a "cam". Numerous people have managed to destroy multiple Opti's because they failed to check the dowel pin length.

Probably need to add a "signature" with basic info about your car, including the "mods".

Moving to LT1/LT4 Engine Tech......
