ok sorry i should have made it more clear it goes from the middle of the gauge which is where it always is to the red 260.also it cools down when i turn the air on because the fans kick in.

Check again for air in the system and for the proper level of coolant. More info can be obtained by watching the temp reported to the PCM with a scan tool and also observing the fan ON status.

chech the fan relay for the temp when u turn on the ac the low fan kicks on only or just put a switch on it go to orileys and buy a toggle switch. Hook either wire to a power source and the other one to the fans and also run a fuseable link on it 20 should be fine. Good luck

I had the same problem...Check your fuseable links. the group of wires coming out of the battery connecter on the fender well (pass side) the wires have what looks like black shrink wrap on them. look at them and make sure they arent burned.

This is actually awesome info. I have a 93 that I bought recently since I wrecked my old one. Anways the guy I bought it from installed a new radiator and the car does the same thing but takes longer maybe about 20 min and in stop and go traffic when the temp gauge goes up. But as soon as i start driving again it goes down? Seems like similar issues here.
