95 z28 just bought has a cam but no idea what kind

I bought a 95 z28 crashed for a swap in my 94 v6 camaro. this motor has a cam installed but the info as to what cam is in it wasn't available.

how can i tell? probably no stampings on it huh, idk if its even worth ripping the motor out just to find out, but i probably will run my nitrous setup on it with atleast a 100shot.

idk what do you think?

I probably wouldn't bother, but it could make tuning an issue.

The number is normally stamped on the front cam lobe where the dowl pin is located. Once you remove your opti you should be able to get the part number.

If its a comp, then it is usually on the back.

Is there much lope? I would say that 60-75% of all LT1 cams are either hotcam, cc305, or cc306. They are VERY popular off the shelf grinds.

lope as in rough idle? idk i pick the car up sat.

you can listen to it here, maybe thatll help distinguish how agressive it is.

To tell you the truth, it sounds stock. You need to get a sound clip by the exhaust tips at idle.

Definately sounds cammed to me. Now, the question is is it a stock cam?

What makes believe it has a non-stock cam?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6783

thats the auction, auction said it does have a cam but no idea what kind.

idk who knows. if it was aggressive i'd prolly be able tohear it right? what am i listening for a rougher idle? if it sounds close to stock chances are its mild and would be ok with nitrous?>

the car has the stock intake and exhaust... so its easily questionable whether or not the cam was done.

Re: 95 z28 just bought has a cam but no idea what kind

unfortunately i am on a very limited budget doing this swap, but what should i go over in the motor b4 install it? should i replace the timing chain and gears , should i just buy a decent cam and install it while the motor is out? how much work is it to install it? what about rockers...worth it?

whatever i do i gotta do it cheap
