Fuel filter in the back near the fuel tank. It's mounted to the body rail on the drivers side...

 

Agree...it's likely a check valve and not a problem

 

One other side note. I have noticed that the temp gauge on the dash takes a while to reach op temp. Some times it doesn't even hardly move on short 5 mile trips.

 

well another issue...maybe there is no T stat in the car..

OP if you have been throwing the 0372 code and having hard or no start and/or backfire/stumble when engine is running......that is very common description, and code related, opti issue and/or CPS (crank position sensor)

cars that sit for years that ran fine when they were parked can have all kinds of crap set in. Maybe Opti had some coolant exposure from a weeping WP and after 2 years of sitting that coolant FU the optical sensor inside the Opti or gumed up/blocked a few of the 360 small slots in wheel inside Opti

Your FP under the limited testing you have done indicates that is in spec (although a engine running/driving check would be prudent to do)

Okay guys there's nothing more than I hate is coming on here and seeing a post where somebody had a problem but never ever posted how they fixed it or when they fixed it. So I replace the optispark. Put everything back together Purge the coolant system by the way it did have a thermostat in it. Replace the thermostat anyway. Car starts right up everytime I go to start it no delay start. I have only driven it down the road once. And since I replaced the thermostat the temp gauge actually shows the proper temp now. Thanks to everybody that put in their 2 cents

 

good you got it all sorted out. The opti needed replacing and it sounds like the old T stat was sticking
