'96 M6 hard to start...
I have a 1996 Z28 M6 with 34,220 Miles on it.
lately it has been getting harder to start.
Over the weekend i went to put it out in front and it wouldn't start, it had power, the clutch was in, turned key..nothing.
turned the key back and let the clutch out.
turned the key, pressed the clutch in, at a certain point where the clutch was, it started up.
Today it took me a few minutes to find that spot again, could this be the beginin of a major problem???
Could it be some kind of switch or solenoid from the ignition switch to the cluch
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Note: When I turn the key all power goes on, but it doesn't even crank. I found that I need to play with the cluch a little bit untill I hit the right spot then it'll crank right up..

If its been getting harder over time it may be the fuel pump.
Try turning the ignition on for 10 sec a few times and then turn it over. That will cause the fuel pump to cycle a few times - if it starts after that - then it's likely the FP.

If you get under the dash you should be able to see a switch that gets pushed in when the clutch pedal is pushed (neutral start switch I think), sounds like that might be your problem. I haven't ever taken a good look at it so I'm not sure if it can somehow be fixed otherwise I would just replace it.

Just a suggestion:
Any auxsil. plugged into the battery? I had the power wire for my stereo wired right to the positive of the battery and after a few years it became coroded. I would try cranking the car a few times and get just a clicking sound, then wait a few seconds and it would fire right up.
...sounds electrical none the less.

I had that problem on 2 cars, my 86 Trans Am and 96 Camaro.
I just clipped the 2 wires off of the switch and wired them together.
I think the switch isn't very expensive. I think that you should just replace it.

I am not sure how many switches you have on your clutch pedal, but it's attached to the bracket where the clutch pedal is.
Should have 2 heavy gauge wires going to the switch.
I can check tomorrow on my brothers 96 6 speed and let you know what colors they are and take a picture if I can get up in there.
