97 motor how to convert to 95
hello i just bought a 97 lt1 motor with low miles and would like to run it in my 95 camaro.....i know the timigcover is different and the opti spark but can i run my 95 opti with the 97 timing cover and do i got to change both the opti and the cover to the 95 also do i need to run an oil cooler on this motor or can i eliminate it somehow....

It will run fine, the crank position sensor just won't be plugged in. Also, replace the knock sensor with one from a 95. The oil cooler can be removed, it won't hurt anything. My 97 TA didn't even come with an oil cooler.

Your better off using the 97 vented Opti. All you will have to do is splice the correct connector into your 95 harness. To use your 95 Opti you will have to change the timming cover, timing chain, dowl pin in the cam and the opti unit. It's not worth it, the vented unit is better anyway.
