? about cam swap

? about cam swap

I want to install a CC503 this spring. Can I get away with just changing the valve spring? Or would I have to change the pushrods, locks, retainers, etc? I am on a very small budget. Thanks!

Im doing a swap to a 503 and i am also on a tight budget. If you do the cam, you should upgrade the valve springs. If you are planning on going with high ratio NSA rockers you will probably need hardened push rods.

Later on this year, probably next fall/winter, I will buy 1.6 pro mag, 7/16 rocker studs, guide plates, and a 58mm TB. I would like to know if I can get away with not having to replace the rockers at this time. I also would like to start saving up for a different rearend.

Upgrade the valvesprings and you should be OK. Obviously getting a spring that comp says will work with the cam...

CC503 with 1.6 RR VS. Hotcam kit - How much of a difference would there be in track times (with the mods in sig)? The Hotcam kit would fit my budget a little better. I know that the CC503 would have a little more horsepower but I am more interested in track times, not HP numbers.

from what I've seen there's about a 2-3mph trap difference

plus the hot cam kit leaves little room for growth and if you decide to change your cam later down the road pretty much zero parts in the kit are reusable for bigger cams. the springs are rated for what the cam lifts, the rockers are SA.

if you feel you'll be satisfied with the hotcam's gains or don't mind redoing things later if you decide to upgrade then by all means go for it
