? about LE2 H/C

I've decided that I want to upgrade the top end.I've done a tad bit of research and I looking at going with the LE2 H/C. Now my question is with that setup, the normal bolt ons, a 3000 stall and a stock rearend, am I going to have to worry about grenading the rearend as soon as I get a solid launch? All help/ advice is appreciated.

Automatics are far more gentler than M6s so you're at an advantage there. But if you put drag radials or slicks on you have a much greater chance of breaking the rear. Remember it isn't so much horsepower that breaks the ring and pinion as it is shock loading.

You could break the rearend with a stock motor. It has been done. Its the weak link in these cars.

The rear end is a risk, as with anything performance, but I wouldn't call it a ticking time bomb. I've seen lots of guns running low 11's with stock rears without issue. I'm talking every weekend at the strip. Then again I've seen guys break them on the street.

I'm not sure what camshaft/setup you plan on running but 3000rpm stall is good for a stock motor. A LE2 sized cam is probably going to want something in the 3400-3600 range.

I run a Moser 9" in my A4 383 car, a stock rear in my M6 heads and cam 350. I'm not worried about the stock rear at all unless I start to beat it up at the track on slicks.

I planned on getting the LE cam something like .230/.236-.232/.240 so Ill look into getting a higher rated stall. Thanks for the advice guys. I think Ill take a trip to my salvage yard and try and find a replacment 10 bolt and start putting cash in to the "blown rearend" rainy day fund...just in case.
