ABS and smaller front tires
I'm thinking about running a 245/40/17 on a 9.5" rim on the front. That will turn about 4% slower than the rears wtih 275s. Right now my ABS (3channel no traction control) is disabled anyways, but if I wanted to reactivate the ABS system would that 4% in tire size be enough to cause the permenant illusion of a low traction situation? I'm sure someone at some point has run skinnies that didn't quite match their slicks and did or didn't run into this possible problem.
thanks in advance,

That 3.8% (a little over 2 mph difference at 60 mph) is probably on the borderline, but you might try testing it. With the rears turning slower, ABS will think they are locking first and release. That's not bad.

If you think about it a worn out 275 should be the same diameter as a new 255. So a 245 is a hair smaller than that. The abs has to be a little forgiving or else people would be tripping it when they had worn out rears tires and good fronts. I haven't driven with functioning ABS in a long time, but i thought you could get the rears to just start locking up before it kicked on. Your right though, it's probably very borderline.
I'll probably just go ahead and get them. I have no itentions of hooking up the ABS anytime soon. Maybe i'll go with 255's instead of 245's for the extra .15" of ground clearance, when the tread wears off the tires my lowered car might need it, haha.
