AC problem, help
For the last few days, sometimes when i'm driving i'll turn on the AC. Most of the time it will work, however sometimes it just blows and the air isn't being cooled, like the compressor isn't working. However, if i turn off the car, the restart it the AC will work 100%. I was thinking the AC relay so i opened up the relay box under the hood, took out the relay and tested it with +12 to see if it clicked open. It works. Is there any other relays or electrical connections that the AC system uses?? I'm not really up on AC stuff. If that relay the only switch type electrical connection to the compressor I'll just buy a new one, maybe it's stickin but I'm not sure why if i turn off the car and back on again it will work. I'm thinking something is gettin power taken off and it's "resetting" or maybe a power spike or fall off will unstick the relay?? I'm not sure, any help or insight would be appreciated. TIA

Hmmm I am thinking.... do your cars have an Air Conditioner coolant presure switch??
I know my old ford did have one... I developed a very slow leak and when it reached certain point it would not turn on the AC compresor... yet sometimes if the outside temp would go up it would start working again...
that kept going on until the R12 pressure was not longer high enough to activate the switch... one quick fill up of R12 and it would work again for a few months and then start all over again
Just my thoughts it could be a pressure switch. check you R134a pressure on the low side and high side with engine idling..
careful on the high side... conect your gage prior to crancking up the engine.
